I welcome any volunteer opportunities as I believe that in this life we serve ourselves by serving others. In this exchange we grow appreciation, compassion, and understanding for others.

Here at a few quotes which clarify some beliefs dear to my heart:

• William Penn said that "A true friend unbosoms freely, advises justly, assists readily, adventures courageously, and continues a friend unchangeably." I believe strangers, friends, family, and lovers deserve this respect.
• Jef Mallet said "An opinion should be a result of thought, not a substitute for it." This is a bold reminder to take things with a grain of salt before you believe in or spread something as truth that you have read, heard, or seen.
• And finally, Margaret Meade reminded us all to "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." How true this is! No matter how exhausting the work to do is, remember all that has been done by people. People, not superheros. You can do it too.

Community is a well preserved concept. I really believe people would succumb to the pitfalls of pride and loneliness less often if they felt more welcomed in the world. If the communities around them assisted when they need help up by "their boot straps".
