As a recent college graduate with honors focusing in Spanish and translation, I am a passionate and dedicated young professional looking to begin fulfilling my potential through hard work and the further development and utilization of my talents. Being a native speaker of American English, and fluent in Spanish at the C2 level, my dedication to language and communication is not simply the conveyance of words between two of the most spoken languages on the planet, but rather an all-encompassing understanding of the cultural meaning and background of ideas and concepts in their local, regional, national, and international contexts.
I have spent two and a half years living and studying abroad in Chile, Argentina, and most recently, in Galicia, Spain on a full scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year. During my time abroad I have constantly strived to pursue Spanish language certification courses extracurricular for the purpose of continuing and strengthening my foundation in cultural and linguistic understanding. This has been an excellent way to monitor the progress of my education and my retention of classroom and real-world knowledge throughout the past few years, starting with my being awarded the Argentine CELU exam's 'Intermediate/Advanced' certification in 2009, my completion of the University of Santiago de Compostela's Center for Modern Languages Spanish C1.1 Advanced certification in 2010, and my greatest educational achievement to date: being awarded The Cervantes Institute's Spanish language certificate at the C2, or Expert, level. This is the highest testable level of an individual's comprehension of the Spanish language, it's grammar, vocabulary, dialects and past and present idiomatic phrases and their uses.
utilizing and further developing my talents in an ever changing world where international and multicultural communication for social and business reasons is increasingly in demand.
