TRAMA is an association of 400 backstrap loom weavers, 98% women, in Guatemala. We work directly with 17 weaving cooperatives, representing five regions in the Western Highlands of Guatemala: Sololá, Huehuetenango, Sacatepéquez, Quetzaltenango and Quiché. We offer high quality products that ensure fair wages to the craftspeople. We also offer hands-on classes for individuals learning about traditional weaving processes. Our mission is to create work for fair wages for the women of Guatemala; to honourably support our families and communities; and to preserve and develop our cultural traditions through the maintenance of our textile arts and their histories.
We are always looking for people interested in supporting our store, taking weaving classes, and volunteering.
