My story

We are looking for 14 individuals motivated to pursue a lifelong career in primary & preventive healthcare to come serve with us!

This is a FULL-TIME position with a living STIPEND* This is an AmeriCorps/NACHC Community HealthCorps position and NOT an official internship.

__________

Redwood Community Health provides high-quality healthcare for the underserved and uninsured populations of Northern California's Sonoma County. The Community HealthCorps program advances this mission by placing 14 HealthCorps Members at several locations of six Sonoma County Community Health Centers. Through a variety of activities aimed at increasing access to primary care services & cost saving benefit programs, HealthCorps Members will help the most economically disadvantaged individuals and their families foster healthy behaviors and utilize preventive health services. HealthCorps Members will offer coordinated inreach assistance and education to individuals accessing benefits, community resources, and disease prevention programs. Through one-on-one and group sessions, Members will facilitate individual support, resource clinics and healthcare access education workshops. Members will attend monthly health fairs and community events to offer outreach and education to economically disadvantaged and underserved community members. Other HealthCorps service activities include the facilitation of healthy weight and nutrition programs for children and families, increased resource assistance to older adults to promote long-term self-care management, and will enhance program access to support veterans, their networks, and ensure that their well-being becomes a greater priority to our communities.

We are looking to recruit community & public health advocates who will demonstrate dedication to our patient population. The ideal applicant is creative, self-motivated, shows a strong desire to learn, be flexible, and adaptable when faced with the challenge of providing healthcare to underserved communities

The Community HealthCorps service term is tremendous learning opportunity for recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in community & public health.

We want you to leave us with mentorship, exposure to community health professionals, experience hearing from patients and their stories, and to develop a deep understanding of the current successes and current obstacles in healthcare.

The goal of our program is to both serve our patients and to inspire you to pursue a career dedicated to improving the health and well-being of all communities.
