Position: International Communications Officer

Location: Hanoi

Salary: Small stipend, discussed upon request

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm

Period: Fulltime for three months from April 15, 2013 – July 19, 2013, but with potential to be ongoing

The Position

ENV requires an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced professional to fill the position of International Communications Officer. This position reports directly to the Communications Manager, and focuses on developing and improving the existing communications platforms, outputs and campaigns. Particular focus for this position is to build ENV's capacity in international communications. The preferred candidate will be a native English speaker. As this is a short-term position we would prefer a candidate who is already based in Hanoi.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and promote the existing communications program for international audiences
  • Help build staff capacity in communications procedures, and improve their written communications skills and production of press releases, news articles, blog posts and other social media posts
  • Help staff review, develop and improve existing communications platforms, outputs and campaigns
  • Help develop processes to monitor and evaluate results and effectiveness of communications campaigns

Education/Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor Degree in Communications or related field
  • Two years' experience in communications or marketing
  • Experience producing various written communications at a professional level, including press releases, web content, newsletters and social media content
  • Experience or interest working in the environment sector and/or a non-government organization
  • Experience in training or mentoring
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and creative

Education for Nature-Vietnam (ENV) was established in 2000 as Vietnam's first local non-government organization to focus on the conservation of nature and the environment. ENV's young and passionate team is committed to working in innovative ways to educate the people of Vietnam about environmental issues, with particular focus on wildlife protection, and empowering them to become part of the solution.

ENV works across three main program areas:

- Reducing demand for and consumption of wildlife products

- Strengthening and supporting law enforcement in dealing with wildlife crimes

- Strengthening legislation and advocating effective government policy in addressing illegal wildlife trade
