AGENCY: The International Institute of Connecticut, Inc. is a non-profit, non-sectarian social serviceagency dedicated to the needs of immigrants, refugees and victims of human-trafficking and torture. Support is provided through direct professional services, counseling, advocacy and the advancement of fair and humane public policy.
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Human Trafficking is a form of modern‐day slavery, involving victims who are forced, defrauded or coerced into labor or sexual exploitation. Project Rescue is a program designed to assist victims of human trafficking identified in the State of Connecticut. The selected intern will assist the program staff in developing community resources and conducting outreach to help identify potential victims and educate community providers on human trafficking.
Minimum Requirements:
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Proficiency in one or more languages (French, Spanish, etc.) a plus.
-Own transportation and willingness to travel locally would be helpful.
-Previous experience in the field of social services or familiarity with human-trafficking, refugee, or immigrant issues a plus.
Students majoring in social work, human services, law or pre-law, international studies, political science, or sociology are encouraged to apply!
