Domestic Violence Wears Many Tags (DVWMTS) is seeking a qualified and experienced pro-bono Public Relations Manager to help with the growth of the organization as it pertains to generating awareness and being more publicly known through various media outlets.
About DVWMTS
Domestic Violence Wears Many Tags mission is to bring awareness to the community and families as whole as it pertains to abuse. We want to educate schools, churches, and mentor groups by reprogramming the amygdala with better decision making skills. We want to find ways that are fun and interesting for families, schools, and or churches to talk about abuse on any platform. We want to make sure that we are in the community bringing new and approved information & resources for the people that are the face of abuse & to the abusers.
Basic Requirements
Before applying, please look over the list of the basic requirements. We pride ourselves in having a team that is active and responsive and passionate about our cause. An applicant must:
- Demonstrate a passion for Domestic Violence
- Have access to e-mail and Internet at least 5 days a week
- Commit to a one-year term
- Fulfill the time commitment listed on the individual job description (5-20 hours per week)
- Participate in all staff meetings and calls
Public Relations Manager (Hours Per Week: 5-10)
- Formulate and execute PR and marketing strategy for the organization as a whole: social media, blogs, local and national media outlets, email marketing, community outreach, promotions through flyers and contests, etc.
- Draft and disseminate press releases to major media outlets to bring better awareness of Domestic Violence Wears Many Tags and upcoming events in a timely manner.
- Streamlining key messages so all members of DVWMTS can represent the brand and mission. Writing content (press release, marketing material, event descriptions, blog posts/site content, profile info, etc.) in line with key messages.
- Maintain media outlet database and communicate with all online, print, YouTube, television, and radio contacts whenever major announcements are made
- Strengthen existing partnerships with current media partners as well as research and reach out to potential new media partners to spread the word about Domestic Violence Wears Many Tags
- Other duties that may relate to Marketing & PR
Required Qualifications
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Proactive in building buzz for DVWMTS
- Provide writing samples, preferably of press releases or blogs.
- 3-5 years experience as a Marketing or PR Consultant
- Experience in the Non-profit field
