Volunteer Opportunity description

Share your passion for plants

Become a San Francisco Botanical Garden Docent

Training starts Feb. 9.

  • Expand your knowledge of basic botany, ecology, horticulture and plant uses.

  • Get to know the amazing collections of plants from around the world growing in San Francisco's Botanical Garden, one of the top 10 botanical gardens in the United States

  • Learn to communicate your knowledge and enthusiasm about the Garden with visitors from our city, across the state, and around the world.

Training takes place on eight consecutive Saturdays, and focuses on how to be a great interpretive speaker and on the Garden's Native Plant, Magnolia and Cloud Forest Collections.

This is the first part of a two-part docent training class (the second part is optional). Fall classes emphasize plants from the Southern Hemisphere, which will be in bloom during the training.
