Volunteer Opportunity description

This volunteer opportunity is truly once and a lifetime and an outstanding chance to gain valuable experience in the field. The 'Wat Doi Saket project' is a cultural exchange opportunity where participants live in a Buddhist temple and teach English to novice monks. The program is working with eighteen Buddhist temples in Northern Thailand. Currently we are expanding and opening new temples for volunteers to live and teach. Since we have never placed volunteers at these new temples we are looking for outgoing, personal, friendly, and responsible volunteers to help us 'open' these locations. You would stay at the Buddhist temple and help with;

-Making sure the teaching schedule runs smoothly

-Teaching novice monks Monday - Friday

-Making connections locally for various projects

-Finding activities and unique locations around the temple for future volunteers

-Identifying any problems with the food schedule, laundry, or any other details

Essentially the first volunteer is the face of ATMA SEVA and it is very important to leave a good impression. We are only looking for candidates who can commit to one full term (roughly 4 months) of teaching/volunteering. The 'Wat Doi Saket project' is structured where participants pay a fee for the program, but for this opportunity there will be no charge. All the expenses will be on the volunteer and we will do our best to minimize any costs we can.
