Chrysalis is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment. We are currently seeking Client Services Volunteers to help our Clients through their job search. We have offices in three sites where poverty is most pervasive: Downtown (Skid Row) Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Pacoima (the San Fernando Valley).
Volunteer Duties
The focus of this volunteer position is to provide support to clients in the following capacities:
- Create resumes for clients.
- Conduct practice interviews.
- Assist in the computer lab, including during Computer Class instruction.
- Work with clients on various job search tasks such as completing job applications, writing cover letters, emails, phone calls to employers, etc.
- Facilitate job search preparation classes as needed.
- Other tasks related to serving our clients as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Basic computer literacy, internet search skills, and word processing ability required.
- Excellent verbal, written, communication and organizational skills.
- A desire to work with low-income and homeless individuals.
- Ability to motivate others and to solve problems.
- Team player who is willing to help other employees when needed.
- Experience training and tutoring individuals preferred.
- Bilingual skills (English, Spanish) very needed in the Pacoima office
