Volunteer Opportunity description

Bay Area Food Bank's SNAP Outreach Team is working throughout Alabama to identify and help individuals living in hard to reach and underserved areas. We assist with the SNAP (formerly Food Stamp) applications and answer questions they have about SNAP and the interview process.

This volunteering opportunity puts the volunteer in a position working face-to-face with families and individuals struggling with food in-security.Volunteers will go to local food pantries and community organizations to meet directly with people in need. The SNAP Outreach Team will provide you with free training and materials to get you started as well as do the scheduling for you.

Please note that while the Bay Area Food Bank is where the SNAP Outreach Team is located, it is not the volunteer site. We do conduct outreach events all across the state of Alabama. We will work with each volunteer to schedule events as close to their local community as possible. With that in mind, volunteers will be responsible for finding transportation to events they sign up for.
