Description

We are working with the UN women to empower women in Cameroon through the creation of a series of rural women food cooperatives. The aim is to increase farm production, and increase income of rural families. The women farmers can sale most of their farm produce through the cooperative while the cooperative supplied subsidised farm input (manure, fertilizers, improve planting seeds, tools etc) to its members.

The cooperative is managed by women for women. Based on the innovative nature of this program, we are looking for skilled volunteers who will work as co-manager in the cooperative designing sustainable policies, improving management skills of the women and scaling up the cooperatives.

Each volunteer will be placed in each of the cooperatives. There are 5 cooperatives now and we hope to move up to 50 within the next five years. So each time, we hope to have a volunteer co-managing and brining innovative ideas to each of the cooperatives.

In some communities, volunteer may choose to live with a family or can rent. Cost of living is very low ( about $5/day) for food. Housing is about $50/month. utility ( water/electricity is about $20/month. Volunteer can cook or eat from local restaurants
