Volunteer Opportunity description

A microfinance program focuses on business development. Participants will work with local NGOs to assist with entrepreneurial programs for marginalized groups such as indigenous populations, women, and migrant workers. Projects will vary greatly depending on the activities of the NGO and the participant's qualifications. This program can be incredibly rewarding and gives participants the chance to complete challenging fieldwork.

Our programs take place in a variety of rural locations in the Highlands region, and we have recently placed participants in the departments of Quetzaltenango, Quiche, and Huehuetenango

Experience within the fields of accounting, business administration, marketing, or finance is very helpful. This placement requires a minimum of 3 months commitment and an intermediate to advanced level of Spanish.

Program Includes:

  • Airport pickup
  • Orientation upon arrival
  • Work placement
  • Pre Departure materials
  • In-country coordinator available 24/7
  • US-based staff support

Participants must be at least 18 years old or older at the time of their program.
