Volunteer Opportunity description

This position made possible through a partnership with Volunteer Missionary Movement USA.

SHARE is an international non-profit organization that strengthens solidarity with and among the Salvadoran people in El Salvador and the United States in the struggle for economic sustainability, justice, and respect for human rights, gender equality and responsible environmental management.

The communities with whom we work make an effort each day to change the structures that for decades have kept people poor, through efforts to reactivate sustainable local economies, creating viable rural policies that help small agricultural producers in the execution of development projects and economic growth. These projects promote women's empowerment, leadership development, citizen participation, and environmental justice as the key values of our work. Since 1981, SHARE has organized hundreds of people from the United States in delegations to visit, learn, and support organizations and their struggles in El Salvador through lasting relationships. We also accompany sustainable advocacy efforts of various Salvadoran organizations on certain issues that affect the life of the general population, such as mining exploration, climate change, food sovereignty and food security, human rights, and the building of a true democratic system.

  • Grassroots Partnerships, or sistering relationships with parishes, churches, schools, universities, and solidarity committees with organized communities in El Salvador

  • Major Delegations
  • Community Development Projects
