English in Action (EiA), a program of the English-Speaking Union of the United States, matches non-native speakers with American volunteers for one-to-one conversation practice. English in Action is always looking for friendly new tutors. As an EiA Volunteer you will make a difference in your community, meet new people, share your culture and experiences, and learn about other cultures.
Volunteers need no formal training, just an interest in other languages and cultures and the willingness to befriend a newcomer. Time commitment: 2 hours per week. Volunteer leadership positions available. Currently we are looking for tutors for Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
English in Action may mean the beginning of a lifelong interest in a particular area of the world, or even a deeper understanding of one's own culture.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer tutor in New York City, please contact English in Action at email@example.com to schedule an appointment. We encourage all prospective tutors to reserve a place at one of our weekly orientation sessions.
