CMMB implements healthcare programs that build the capacity of local health systems to provide quality services, without discrimination, to people in need around the world. Programs address major causes of morbidity and mortality in the developing world, including HIV/AIDS, malaria, TB and maternal and child health illnesses. These programs aim to reduce preventable deaths by increasing access to healthcare services in the communities where CMMB works, and by strengthening capacity within local health facilities.
As part of this mission, CMMB Peru's program is seeking a Public Health Program Coordination Volunteer for its office in Lima, Peru. The volunteer will assist with daily program-related activities for CMMB Peru's multiple projects. CMMB Peru's newest project is Cuidandote en los Primeros Mil Dias (Taking care of you in the first 1000 days), which aims to improve the health and nutrition of expectant mothers and children up to 5 years of age, with a special focus on children from birth to 2. Activities relate to nutrition and feeding practices, hygiene, early stimulation, and health behavior change. The Public Health Volunteer will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of all the project's activities in addition to its technical strategy, targets and objectives. S/he will also assist with other CMMB Peru projects and develop proposals to donors for additional program funding.
CMMB will provide the volunteer with a monthly stipend (to cover meals/living expenses), housing, evacuation insurance and transportation to/from Peru from the volunteer's home country throughout the duration of the year volunteer term.
