Volunteer Opportunity description

RefugeeOne is currently accepting volunteer applications for in-home youth tutors for its youth program.

As a RefugeeOne volunteer tutor, you will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a child who has recently arrived to the United States in a mutually beneficial exchange of culture and knowledge.

Interested volunteers should be at least 18 years old and be able to commit to at least 2 hours per week for a minimum of 6-9 months.

We are looking for people with caring hearts, cultural sensitivity, patience, dedication, and English fluency.

Note: Many of our families are located throughout the North Side of Chicago.

About Us: RefugeeOne is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that provides a full range of services to refugees brought to the United States by the U.S. State Department for resettlement in the Chicago metropolitan area. The majority of our services are provided to refugees displaced from their homelands due to war or persecution. Every year, RefugeeOne helps these refugees secure housing, learn English, acclimate to American culture, develop computer and other employable skills, find jobs, access medical and other care, navigate the public school system for their children, apply for citizenship, and obtain care for elderly family members.
