Volunteer Opportunity description

HELP CHILDREN IN HOMELESS FAMILIES EXPERIENCE THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF ART! The Playtime Project seeks Art Coordinators who can make a weekly commitment from 6:15-8:30pm., at one of five homeless shelter sites around the city (we will find a location that works well for you to attend). Our programs run on Monday-Thursday evenings. Responsibilities include: Plan arts activities appropriate to children between the ages of 3-10 to lead such as paper mache sculptures, pottery, painting, and other creative art projects that can be done in one hour with a group of children assisted by volunteers. Help curate art projects for art show in October and to decorate Playrooms. Requirements include: Prior experience teaching art to children, commitment to a minimum of four months of volunteering (through mid November), time to gather supplies for each week's art activity and plan ahead, and willingness to undergo training on Wednesday, July 17th from 6:00-8:30 p.m. We will supply and reimburse for all materials. Wonderful experience for art students, teachers, or other talented, committed people ready to make a difference in the lives of children in crisis.
