FRESHH Inc is in search of five (5) Board members for a start-up 501(3)(c) entity. Our goal is to reinforce "Reinforcing the bold, resiliency, beautiful, and brilliance in black girls of all ages."
FRESHH Inc would like to develop a 5 person Advisory Board of community leaders, experienced in black culture, youth development and programming, hip-hop culture, nonprofit management, and education. Ideal candidates will advise and mentor the founder and staff, engage in fundraising efforts, support strategic planning, and serve as public ambassadors for the organization. Members are essential contributors and personally responsible for enabling this nonprofit organization to achieve its mission, realize its potential, and fulfill its obligations to supporters and partners.
We need one (1) Board member who has experience with grant-writing, to help us develop strategically as well as sustain growth throughout our future. With a specific focus on youth development, black women and girls, and hip-hop we are interested in securing strong partnerships with funders interested in our work.
We need one (1) Board member who can help us with the legal aspects of starting up our organization as a 501(3)(c) entity, and helping us determine under what parameters we may best operate in the community.
We need one (1) Board member who has experience in the music industry and extensive knowledge of hip-hop's power players, scholars, businesses, and artists. With programs that involve and reference hip-hop, we are interested in building a presence in the hip-hop community.
We need one (1) Board member who has experience accounting and has the working knowledge to help sustain and develop the working budget for FRESHH Inc. Experience in auditing, budget development, and accounting in non-profit management is a plus.
We need one (1) Board member who has experience in non profit and business management. We are looking for assistance in growing with the trends and developments happening in the non profit sector.
Preferred characteristics of the Board candidates: An intimate understanding of the issues facing the Black community is essential to understanding the mission of this nonprofit entity. Candidates should also posses, a passionate and extensive interest in the effects of hip-hop culture on its audience and community members.
We are an organization of black women for black women, but will consider all applicants who have the appropriate experience and passion to serve our demographic.
As yet, the regular time commitment of the Board members changes according to need and availability of the existing Board members. At present we hold our planning meetings monthly.
FRESHH Inc Board Member Qualifications
• Experience in one of our topic fields • Experience working for a nonprofit organization • Respected leader in their field • Fundraising experience • Experience in and passion for working with young people, specifically African- American Girls between the ages of 11-17 years old. • Cultural awareness of hip-hop • Willingness and ability to leverage connections and resources to raise funds for FRESHH Inc
FRESHH Inc Board Member Expectations
• All board members are expected to attend the yearly organizational summit to discuss and plan for the future of the organization • All board member are expected to lend their expertise to at least one of the FRESHH Inc programs • All board members must visit at least one program during the course of the year. • Board members will assist the staff by helping to identify potential givers and implement fundraising strategies through personal influence (corporations, individuals, foundations). • Board Members advocate for FRESHH Inc, to increase awareness for the organization within their own personal and professional circles. • Board members will help set goals and measurable targets for the organization and monitor the organization's ability to reach this goals and create a larger impact • Board members will ensure that the FRESHH Inc budget, policies, and programs are consistent with the needs of the participants and our partners.
