IT / Web Media management volunteer for an NGO

EduCARE india seeks volunteer for the position of Information tecnology / IT, Web Developent Manager for developing and supporting our online platforms for our Community Development Project Centers in rural areas in India.

General Description

This position has responsibility for the dissemination of organisationa and its projects information and knowledge via the EduCARE India web sites as well as related platforms and web-based tools. This position is also responsible for the planning and management of information services for information technology as well as the appropriate application of social and new media tools in support of ViKAS Centre Org projects and operations. This position includes strategic and operational planning, development and implementation of an end-to-end information management regime and related standards and guidelines, and the oversight of web application development, intranet maintenance and development for the effective implementation of information technology (IT) infrastructure and operations. It is involved with both project and cross-organization responsibilities working closely with the Project Director. The position also coordinates activities of IT and intranet support, including the architecture and maintenance of the CEC's web site: .

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Webmaster for EduCARE India and ViKAS Centre Org Websites
• Development and maintenance of intranet & online databases
• Increase EduCARE India and ViKAS Centre Org's visibility through the internet network and to gather information for trend analyses & reports
• Implement network security for EduCARE India and ViKAS Centre Org Websites
• Organize information management, data collection, archiving and sharing between all ViKAS Centre Org interns
• Oversee troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery
• Work with project teams to help implement shared communication tools
• Oversee all help desk activities & solve computer problems at the regional level.
• Reports to Operations Manager

Skills and qualities

• Degree or experience in IT / Computer Sciences / ISM with related skill competencies
• Excellent computer skills (experience with operating website; Content Management Systems is a plus)
• Skills and experience in web design
• Skills and experience in information management
• Good communication and organisational skills

The ideal candidate will be dynamic, flexible, organized, creative, independent, patient, dedicated and strategic. Furthermore, the intern should have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, be open to learn new languages, demonstrate a clear commitment to developmental work, and have the ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team. Experience in developmental work and living abroad is preferred.
