Volunteer Opportunity posted by: International Alert
Posted on: September 3, 2013
Duration: Minimum 3 months, 20 hours per week
We are looking for a logistics officer volunteer to support the Eurasia team. The Eurasia Team in London is comprised of 10 staff drawn from a wide range of backgrounds. We work with civil society groups in the South Caucasus to build trust, engage in analysis and debate and transform the discourses and thinking around the conflicts. We develop the capacities of civil society to build peace within their communities, establish contacts across the conflict divides and work together on regional collaborative initiatives.
You will support the Eurasia team in the organisation of a number of events with participation of our partners from the Caucasus region.
The role will include a significant amount of logistics and will offer the opportunities to gain experience working in an international NGO. Evening and weekend work may be needed around events, and ability to travel internationally (e.g. to events in Brussels). This would be an excellent opportunity for a graduate or postgraduate student wishing to gain experience working in the NGO sector.
Ideally, we are keen to recruit someone to start as soon as possible who could commit to 20 hours per week until end February 2014 or longer, but we are open to considering candidates for a minimum of 3 months and review.
Please note, as it will not be possible to obtain a Work Permit for this role, only those with the right to work in the UK should apply.
While International Alert will endeavour to contact all candidates within a reasonable time, this may not always be possible due to limited resources. Therefore, if you have not heard from us within two weeks of the closing date, you can assume that your application has, on this occasion, been unsuccessful. International Alert is an equal opportunities employer. All applicants will be judged strictly on the basis of merit.
