Farm to School: Nutrition Promotion

Description

What:

Volunteers work directly with elementary-aged children in the Pájaro Valley Unified School District, in Watsonville, California to promote healthy eating habits. Through Nutrition Promotion, volunteers impart nutrition and agricultural concepts via fun and engaging activities with students during recess and/or lunch.

Special Skills Desired:

  • Volunteers who are enthusiastic and enjoy learning new skills!
  • Who enjoy teaching school-aged children and having fun!
  • Who are bilingual (Spanish-English), or want to practice, not required.
  • Willing to go through a brief background check.
  • Who are reliable, responsible and on time.
  • Volunteers who have their own transportation.
  • Who enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables!

Times:

Volunteer shifts are about an hour and a half total, in the morning time (during recess) which ranges slightly by slight within the District. Most service days are Friday, with occasional Mondays or Tuesdays.
