Volunteer Opportunity description

Volunteers are needed with an interest in helping low-income and homeless New Yorkers access vital services such as food pantries, benefits access, clothing sites, job programs, medical clincs, and more.

Cathedral Community Cares provides an array of support services to those in need. These include a Nutrition, Health, and Clothing Center that provides professional and emergency clothing through The Clothing Closet program and a Sunday Soup Kitchen that provides a breakfast, lunch, and take-away meal every week.

Every Sunday at our outreach/information table, Cathedral Community Cares' volunteers provide information and referrals to clients of the Sunday Soup Kitchen.

Volunteers are needed to assist in providing these beyond-emergency services each Sunday from 10-2pm. Volunteers will also assist in keeping the outreach materials and information up to date. Training is available.

Because of the nature of the people served, you should be comfortable working directly with a highly vulnerable population. We are particularly interested in individuals who either have an MSW, a social services background, or a strong passion for helping the under-served. Bilingual Spanish volunteers are encouraged to apply.
