Summary: Rakai Environmental Conservation Program (RECO) is a community based not for profit organization that was started in 2011 and registered with Rakai district local government- Uganda as an organization working with Rakai district Communities to respond to Agricultural and Environmental challenges facing the district. As a volunteer-based organization, we depend on grants and donations to fund our operations, and are looking for volunteers to help prepare grant proposals to support our various activities. Our vision is a developed world, free from environmental degradation and hunger and by volunteering your time, expertise and fundraising talents you are helping us get there. So whether you're retired, a student or in between jobs, please do consider giving your time to a truly great cause.

Position: Rakai Environmental Conservation Programme (RECO) is seeking a Grant Writer who will be responsible for conducting a full range of activities required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.

Benefits: The successful applicant will have an opportunity to contribute to a grassroots nonprofit organization and will be capable of securing funding opportunities from around the world. We are looking for people who are professional in this capacity or want to learn more about grant writing. This is an opportunity to get a great recommendation based on what you are able to accomplish. This is an opportunity to be part of the team positively impacting communities.

Responsibilities: We would like to focus on capacity building and funding for projects ranging from local to international. Together with the existing RECO team and our partners, you be responsible for researching new grant opportunities, helping put together grant proposals and reaching out to potential donors and grant makers. We are also interested in other aspects of non-profit development according to your skills.

Requirements: If you are an experienced grant writer, or simply interested in helping us in carrying out our vision, let us know. Experience is helpful, but not essential. The ideal candidate will exhibit the ability to work well independently and/or remotely. They must be able to handle assignments and meet deadlines and income goals.

Commitment: We value our volunteers and want to be flexible when asking for your valued time. We would hopefully expect about 1-3 hours per week, but the brilliant part is that the job can be done in the comfort of your living room! The amount per week might be more or less depending on the grant (s) we are applying for.
