Description: The Catholic Medical Mission Board-Medical Volunteer Program is seeking a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and Orthotist/Prosthetist to work as part of a small team in the implementation of a new community-based rehabilitation program in a district near Trujillo, Perú. The job includes the implementation of different components of the community-based rehabilitation program which is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of disabilities within La Esperanza. Specifically, program components are based around the training of community health agents in therapy basics. Other components may include programs for patient education, support groups, home health visits, improving access to transportation and recreation, program for assistive devices and other equipment, and the creation of job opportunities for persons who have disabilities. Candidate should have a comfortable conversational Spanish level, and be flexible, self-driven, and organized.
Benefits: Transportation, Stipend ($350/mo.) and/or out-of-the-pocket expenses, Medical health insurance, and Housing will be provided. Volunteer may elect not to receive airfare and/or stipend if not necessary. Funding will be used to support additional volunteers.
