Our ministry, Futuro Lleno de Esperanza, is a faith and education based foundation that works with impoverished Dominicans and displaced Haitians. We have 4 schools and 5 churches in the Santiago area. We have 300 children in our schools - most of whom are illegal Haitian immigrants who would not otherwise be able to study. Our school focused on Dominican education is located next to the Santiago landfill and many of our students have parents who work in the landfill. We are also present in Cap Haitien. Haiti with a church and school, as well. We believe in dignity over charity and are committed to Christian education as education empowers humans and Christ sustains us and gives us hope for our future. We also host Poderosa Mujer, a project formed to empower women in our communities by imparting job skills training, education and community-building activities for women.
We are recruiting teacher volunteers - both short and long term - for the coming school year. We are looking for lower-grade English as a second language teachers (4 month and 8 month contracts), bilingual lower grade teachers (French/English or Spanish/English) for 1-school year contract (must have associates or bachelors level degree), homework center "tutors" (2-week-8month contracts). We also have a strong desire to host specialty teachers such as art, dance, karate, choir, etc... (for 2-week-8month contracts). For ESL teachers, Spanish is not necessary, but basic knowledge of Spanish would be helpful for specialty teachers. Teachers should be believers in Christ the Savior.
We offer a small stipend for mission teachers, and shared-cost housing, but most teachers would need to raise funds for airfare, insurance and additional living expenses. Please send resume with two personal references to futurollenodeesperanza@gmail.com.We are accepting applications until March 25th and will be conducting interviews during the first two weeks of April. Final decisions will be announced May 1.
