An educated society is a society that thrives. The Academy, an independent K-8 school in the heart of Berkeley, has provided an education of uncommon excellence since 1969. We seek to develop thoughtful, ambitious, and deep learners. We honor each student's individuality while cultivating their sense of integrity, their respect for others and their commitment to service in a global society.
We are excited to announce that The Academy will be holding its annual Fundraising Gala on Friday, May 6th, 2016. This fundraiser will be held at Piedmont Community Club, and our goal is to raise $30, 000 in support of our financial aid program: an essential component of our commitment to diversity.
We are currently recruiting volunteers to help with our Second-Annual Gala Fundraiser. Volunteers will help with set-up, clean-up, and the service of dinner. We are fortunate to have a warm and supportive environment that is conducive not only to providing an excellent education for our students, but also to having a fun night out!
The food at our dinner, in particular, is something to get excited about! Chefs from around the Bay Area are collaborating to put together a five-course meal that is sure to appeal to novitiates and gourmands alike! One of the perks of volunteering during our event is the chance to sample this delectable cuisine. Our menu features the talents of chefs at The Advocate (Berkeley) and flour + water (San Francisco), as well as drinks by the cocktail-geniuses at Trick Dog (San Francisco).
We are only asking for a couple hours' worth of help! In addition to getting the chance to try some good food, you will also be playing an important role in ensuring that one of the keystones of our commitment to access is preserved; our financial aid program is a wonderful cause!
