Volunteer Opportunity description

Looking to give back this holiday season? Pinched for cash but wanting to donate your time? Want your family to experience volunteering together?

North Helpline is a non-profit organization that works to prevent homelessness and hunger in Greater North Seattle by providing short-term solutions to combat financial adversity such as distributing food, hygiene items, baby supplies, eviction prevention support, utility shutoff prevention, move-in support and free healthcare in partnership with RotaCare Free Clinics.

Currently, three nearby Safeways are promoting a '$10 bag program' that benifits us directly. Every time a customer buys a bag, a portion of a case of food is donated to the food bank.

What we need:

We need food! We need volunteers to hand out flyers at three area Safeways promoting the '$10 bag program'. You will be standing at the storefront handing out flyers, explaining the program, and interacting with customers, providing information about North Helpline. All of this information will be given you beforehand.

Why we need it:

We see our client numbers increase dramatically during the holidays, and we are in our most bleak financial situation of our 23 year existance. We lean heavily on programs like Safeway's to get us through this time of year- but we need your help! This program really only succeeds if we have volunteers interacting with customers!

When we need it:

We are asking for volunteers every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from now until December 24th.

The Safeway locations are as follows:

Pinehurst Safeway 12318 15th Ave. N. E.

North Seattle Safeway 17202 15th Ave. N. E.

Aurora Safeway 15332 Aurora Ave. N.

Thank you in advance for supporting North Helpline! For more information please go to www.northhelpline.org or call (206)367-3477
