Sprockets, the City's out-of-school-time network, is seeking a highly motivated individual to help develop a regional network of mentors to guide and support teen's interest-driven learning.
The AmeriCorps*VISTA will have significant responsibility and authority to help create, implement and evaluate a network of adult mentors primarily in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM). The work will involve developing a deep understanding of the scholarship and research around mentorship; building relationships with local businesses and professional organizations; convening a forum to create the network; recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating mentors and staff; collecting and evaluating data; and working with a team to identify and seek funding. The VISTA will be part of a highly motivated and creative team charged with transforming service to youth in Saint Paul in order to increase their success in school and in life.
The Saint Paul VISTA Program, hosted in Mayor Chris Coleman's Office, is comprised of a city-wide cohort of individuals – placed at community organizations and schools – dedicated to shaping the educational landscape for youth and families in Saint Paul. The Sprockets VISTA will work out of Saint Paul Public Library under the supervision of the Youth Services Coordinator.
