Human Resource Development Council, IX - Bozeman, MT
The Human Resource Development Council, IX is a private, not-for-profit Community Action Agency dedicated to strengthening community and advancing the quality of people's lives. Focused on Gallatin, Park, and Meagher counties, which together encompass more than 2,500 square miles, they aim to achieve this by developing the resources (talent and capital) to help people of all ages and situations confront and overcome obstacles so that they can improve their lives. They focus on seven strategic challenges and operate multiple programs to address these pressing human needs in seven areas: Food and Nutrition, Housing and Homelessness, Child and Youth Development, Senior Empowerment, Community Transportation, Home Heating, Efficiency and Safety, and Community and Economic Development. Through their programs, they foster sustainable results through practical, comprehensive approaches to social and economic challenges. HRDC's vision is to support and advance the quality of people's lives through innovative and dedicated leadership in community development and human service.
This project with focus on ongoing development and implementation a mentoring program and development of a volunteer program to support the HRDC's homeless and financial literacy programs. The VISTA member will assess the needs of the community served by the program, which will not only be incorporated into Mentor Program development, but also the agency's strategic planning process. In addition, the member will lead efforts in evaluating program success and training volunteer mentor coordinators to ensure program sustainability.
All candidates who have not previously served will be required to attend Pre-Service Orientation in Helena, MT on 7/17/2013-7/19/2013.
