Thank you for interest - volunteering with the Hollywood Sign Run is just as much fun as being a participant! See below for descriptions of our 2016 volunteer opportunities.
Assist in the set-up of tables, booths, signage, banners, water stations and other equipment and supplies for the race course, the Post race Festival and the registration area. *Should be able to lift 50 lbs.*
Assist with participant check-in, signing of waivers, accepting donations.
Start/Finish Line/Resting Floor Operations
Help to organize participants into proper start position, direct participants to starting line, remind participants of bag check for personal items (backpacks, water bottles), assist at finish line to keep area clear and safe, hand out towels, hand out medals, direct participants to exit promptly at end of the route, monitor resting floor, replenish fruit and water, monitor trash, etc.
Monitor water stations on the trails, clean up empty cups, keep area free of hazards, communicate any medical situations to Y staff and EMTs, and cheer on racers. *Should be able to lift 25 lbs.*
Strategically placed throughout trail to ensure participants take the correct route and cheer on runners. Will also make sure directional signage stays in place and keep area free of hazards. No shift changes while runners are on the trail. *Should be able to lift 15 lbs.*
Work with timing company to add or change participant info, manually entering start and finish times as back-up, run timing data from finish to start line, and provide assistance as needed,. Timing company will train volunteers on the day of the event prior to start time. Post race results for display and help Stage Manager as needed.
Post Race Festival Operations
Staff booths to hand out t-shirts, water, goodie bags, manage interactive booths.
Coat Check/Lost & Found
Staff the coat check and lost and found at the YMCA and start line.
Assist to check-in all volunteers, help to handle breaks and shift changes, distribute volunteer t-shirts.
Help to assist either the race course break-down or Post Race Festival break-down. Includes breakdown of chairs, tables, booths, water stations, coat check, signage, barricades, etc. *Should be able to lift 50 lbs.*
