Description: This is an Unpaid Volunteer/Intern position.
Changing Worlds seeks an individual to help with Public Relations prior to their signature fundraising event, the Annual Benefit. The Annual Benefit takes place on May 8th. This individual will be responsible for the promotion of the Annual Benefit through media outlets and work closely with the Manager of Individual Giving & Special Events. This individual will gain experience in communicating with press and writing press releases.
Specific Duties Include:
- Creating press releases
- Sending press releases around Chicago and nationally
- Be contact person for media involvement
- Communicate with the Annual Benefit Committee
- Scheduling interviews for Executive Director in relations to media
- Report to Manager of Individual Giving & Special Events
Qualifications:
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Computer skills- MS Office
- Communication background a plus
- Creative thinking skills
- Strong organizational and planning skill
- Public Relations or Journalism experience
