Volunteer Opportunity description

Would you or your group like to pitch in to help the homeless? Would you or your group like to pitch in to reduce rates of HIV?

This volunteer opportunity does not take much training, energy, or time, but is a very important way you can help.

Come help out at Points of Distribution! (POD for short!) Our mission is to improve the overall health of people whose lives have been impacted by homelessness and drug use as well as their neighbors and friends in Oakland and San Francisco. POD members provide weekly street outreach to hard-to-reach homeless folks which includes education and referrals, syringe distribution and disposal and other services such as HIV testing and counseling, OD prevention education and supplies, basic hygiene supplies, food and water and safer sex supplies.

We need people-power to help with making the kits that POD outreach workers give out to folks on the street. These kits contain items that are crucial for hygiene, safer sex and safer drug use.

You will be working in a group and supervised by at least one Points of Distribution member.

It's always a fun and social time. Come get to know us and talk to us while helping out in a very important way!
