Each week, a volunteer tutor (AKA, Role Model) gives their learner a lesson for 1 hour using story books, a writing book, and themselves to teach letter, number, pre-reading, writing, and language skills. Additionally, parents learn how to teach by sitting with their child and the volunteer during every lesson.
Requirements:
Complete an interview
Complete a background check
Complete a Role Model training
Make a 6 month commitment to a child and their family
Be 18 years of age and have a reliable mode of transportation to and from visits
No minimum education requirements
