Department: Ethiopia Agriculture Program
Overview:
This is a volunteer research opportunity with Nuru International. This position entails researching topics relevant to Nuru International's agriculture program in southern Ethiopia and will help inform us about previous agricultural programs and their impacts. We are looking for a volunteer who can commit 5-10 hours of their time per week. We greatly value our volunteers and see them as a valuable asset to furthering our goal of ending extreme poverty. This is a work-from-home position, and it's preferred that candidates are located in the United States.
Specific Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for managing research on agricultural interventions or associated social science or agricultural research in southern Ethiopia
- Responsible for communicating information gathered to the Nuru International Agriculture Program Manager in Ethiopia
- Report weekly on status of project to supervisor
Required Skills and Attributes:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (agriculture, natural resource management, or social science with an environmental emphasis) with 2-3 years of work/ volunteer experience
- Experience in conducting in depth research, including literature reviews and annotated bibliographies
- Ability to access scientific/academic databases and summarize relevant literature
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational skills, research ability and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong work ethic
- Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Nuru International
