Volunteer Opportunity description

Mentors work one-on-one with promising high school refugee girls supporting them as they navigate high school, plan for college and work toward their future careers. YWL mentors will make significant contributions, acting as role models, friends and career advisors. Mentors are encouraged to cover curriculum that introduces and reinforces core skills needed to achieve personal and academics success. We are seeking female mentors ages 21+. Mentors will need to make a minimum 7 month commitment. Mentors and girls would meet for an activity at least one Saturday a month. Mentors should be compassionate, non-judgmental, culturally sensitive and have a genuine affinity for helping children. Please RSVP with Bettina Dennis at YWLCoordinator@refugeefamilyservices.org.
