Presenters deliver travel workshops that connect travelers and teach vital travel skills. HI-USA has developed a series of great presentations to provide travelers with the tools and confidence to get the most out of their adventures. This is an excellent way to share your love of travel, hone public speaking skills, and support HI-USA's mission to promote travel education and awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver travel workshops on a topic of your interest and expertise.
- Enrich workshop content with personal experiences and first hand knowledge.
- Assist in program marketing, publicity, and community outreach.
- Assist in identifying new audiences and venues for travel workshops.
Volunteer Impact:
- Help HI-USA foster relationships throughout the local community.
- Provide opportunity and insight helpful for new travelers.
- Introduce the idea of being "caring world citizens" to new travelers.
- Allow HI-USA to continue to deliver meaningful educational programming.
Training and Support:
- Thorough review of travel workshop presentation resources and support for workshop development from the Director of Programs and Education.
- Participation in a workshop presenter training session.
- Observation sessions with council staff or volunteers.
- Reports to Director of Programs and Education.
Qualifications:
- Public speaking and presentation skills.
- International traveling experience.
- Familiarity with hostels and hostelling.
- Comfortable delivering presentations to a variety of audiences.
Time Commitment:
- Three hours per workshop.
- Pre-workshop training sessions (2-3 hours).
- Mentoring can be by telephone, in person, and/or via email.
- Workshops can be scheduled in the morning, afternoon or evening seven days per week.
