Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV) is a dynamic collaboration of 120+ businesses, governments, academic and non-governmental organizations (Partners), and scores of volunteers addressing environmental sustainability in Silicon Valley. We envision a healthy environment, a vibrant economy, and a socially equitable community. SSV was designed to move beyond the traditional command-and-control model of environmental regulation to one of collaboration and partnership. By focusing on the desired outcome, rather than compliance-driven standards, participants can choose the methods to reach that outcome that make the most sense financially and technologically for each of them. We operate at the intersection of policy and action.
Position: Social Media Lead
Type: Unpaid Volunteer Position
Time Commitment: 10-15 hrs/week
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Passionate about social media
- Experience engaging on social networks like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Pinterest.
- Research and execute campaigns to creatively increase SSV's social media presence.
- Work with team leads to share relevant content
- Continuously train and assist volunteers to get involved in our social media efforts through training sessions, PowerPoint presentations and best practices
- Work with EngagePR to grow our social media efforts and come up with creative ideas on a regular basis
- Lead the social media team to ensure that tasks are being completed on time
- Familiar with Hootsuite, Bitly, Google Analytics and other social media tools
Qualities and Skills/Experience:
- Experience with most Social Networks
- Familiar with tools like Klout, Bitly, Hootsuite, Twellow and Facebook Insights
- Good research skills
- Advanced writing skills
- Experience managing a team
- Organized and with good communication skills
- Able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines consistently
