Want to make a difference in a child's life and travel to a foreign country? Volunteer with WorldTeach Costa Rica and you will be given the opportunity to teach English at primary schools through a partnership with the Ministry of Education.
Most placements will involve teaching English to students in grades 1st through 6th. WorldTeach will also place 1-2 volunteers at each of the bilingual schools. Volunteers in the special bilingual school placements normally teach English as a Foreign Language and/or science.Volunteers assigned to teach English as a Foreign Language are eligible to receive WorldTeach TEFL certification through our accredited certification program. Volunteers will live with host families selected by the WorldTeach field staff.
Volunteers will depart in early January 2014 for orientation, and must dedicate 11 months in service. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until October 15, 2013.
The volunteer commitment covers roundtrip airfare, health and evacuation insurance, housing, and monthly stipend to cover basic living expenses.
The year long program requires volunteers to be between the ages of 18 and 74 by the departure date. Volunteers must also have a Bachelor's degree (in any subject) and demonstrate a desire to teach. Volunteers need not be a US citizen, but must be a native English speaker.
