Volunteer Opportunity description

Nourish Boston is seeking a qualified individual to direct and organize our organization's community programming efforts. The Community Programming Director will report to both the Outreach Director and the Executive Director. Individual should have experience working in outreach programs, community classes, educational events, or similar platforms. Working with diverse populations and experience with Boston's populations is a plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the Outreach director to create meaningful community programming (e.g. classes, events, presentations)
  • Working with the Executive Director to build a competent community programming team; this includes, but is not limited to: posting on relevant job sites, volunteer forums, etc. to find volunteers suitable for community programming (e.g. experts in their field -- nutrition, sustainability, yoga, etc.)
  • Determining future needs of community partners by acting as a liason between the Nourish Boston team and target communities

Individual should have an interest in and feel comfortable discussing topics related to Nourish Boston's mission, including, but not limited to:

  • Nutrition
  • Public health education
  • Chronic disease prevention
  • Sustainability
  • Local food movement

This is a semi-remote position that requires approximately 5 hours per week. Since in-person meetings are required, it would be beneficial to live in/around the Boston area.
