POSITION SUMMARY: The Career Specialist works within the Career department, assisting Career program participants and staff in areas of need.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Program Contribution
- Leads workshops on professional topics to expand participants' knowledge
- Meets with participants individually to review topics such as professional development, computer literacy, English proficiency, and math skills
- Keeps abreast of industry jobs, availability, trends, and employers
- Researches current job postings using online websites, newspapers, and other job search resources and updates career boards, both physical and online
- Assists Career Development team with Administrative tasks
- Completes additional duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's or Associate's degree (4-year degree preferred)
Experience: Must have a minimum of two years professional experience, must be able to work independently
Skills: Proficiency using word processing, database, and spreadsheet software. Resume writing knowledge, interviewing, cover letter writing. Excellent communication and customer service oriented.
