Christian Appalachian Project is seeking long-term AmeriCorps Members (August 2014-August 2015) to provide home repair for homebound senior citizens. Volunteers will lead their long-term volunteer peers and also lead week-long school and church groups. Construction experience required, as well as the ability to lead and teach inexperienced volunteers. Volunteers who can drive a CAP work truck (21 or older with a valid driver's license) especially needed. Positions located in several rural eastern Kentucky counties.
Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) is a nonprofit human services organization serving people in need in Appalachia. Our programs are made possible in large part because of our corps of 50-60 full-time volunteers who serve for a year. Long-term volunteers with CAP make a commitment to Service, Community, and Spirituality and receive room and board, a monthly stipend, health insurance, vacation time, a potential AmeriCorps Education Award of up to $5,550, and potential student loan deferment. Minimum age to volunteer is 18. Applicants must be accepted as a CAP Volunteer first, then may enroll as an AmeriCorps Member for eligible positions.
