Do you have a couple of hours a week to help adult students improve their literacy skills? Would you like to join our team of volunteer tutors in a dynamic literacy program? Asian Human Services is looking for volunteers to work with students from around the world who are improving their English and preparing for the GED to find work in our community and help their children succeed in school. We are a growing program in Chicago's West Ridge neighborhood (near Peterson and California), and we work closely with our volunteers to match them with the right students and make sure they have all the training they need. We welcome volunteers who are new to tutoring, and we can offer you plenty of support as you begin to work one-on-one or in small groups with our friendly, appreciative students.
Our literacy program meets in the mornings from 9:00-1:00 and in the evenings from 5:30-8:00. (We do not have programming on the weekends). This is a great opportunity to make a difference and be inspired by our students and their incredible stories.
For more information about our program and to apply for this volunteering opportunity please contact volunteer coordinator Chris Sherman by email at csherman@ahschicago.org or by phone at 773 564 4963.
