Zidisha Microfinance launched in 2009 as the world's first true person-to-person microlending platform, based on direct communication and transactions between lenders worldwide and borrowers in developing countries. We have an opening for an expert in dynamic PHP / MySQL web coding to make a difference in the world by helping us take our remarkable P2P microfinance website to the next level.
This is an unpaid "virtual volunteering" position that may be undertaken from any location on a flexible schedule, with a minimum time commitment of 10 hours per week. Successful candidates will have a strong previous track record of development of complex dynamic websites using PHP and MySQL.
Here are some examples of the features we would like to have a volunteer contribute:
- Integrate our Beehive-based User Forum with the rest of our website so that it does not require a separate login
- Add repayment schedule confirmation screen to our loan application interface
- Help us develop an automated SMS messaging service to accommodate growing volume of borrowers
- Add an invite feature to our Lending Groups page
- Include hyperlink functionality in comments posted in Lending Groups
- Develop a comprehensive impact indicator tracking report for Lending Group pages
- Integrate principal outstanding display into lender profiles
Successful completion of these challenges will have a major impact on the volume of loans funded through our platform, extending life-changing opportunities to many more disadvantaged entrepreneurs in the world's most marginalized locations.
