Volunteer Opportunity description

Behind the Book is looking for three volunteers to design and format the books produced by our students after working with our published authors.

Each project takes about 15 hours of time for a designer, spread over two or three weeks. Because we're nearing the end of the school year, we need someone who is able to start right away.

While the volunteer can work from home, it is preferable that he/she live in or very near New York City. The volunteer will need to be proficient in InDesign. This opportunity is perfect for someone who has a passion for education and literacy, but also an eye for design and skill with computers.

If you live in NYC, you're also invited to attend the Book Celebration Party for the class whose book you designed. You can read more about past parties on our blog: http://behindthebook.wordpress.com/2013/02/26/were-all-authors-btb-susanna-pitzer-and-ps-46-celebrate-student-books/

How to apply

Please send an email to Ellen@behindthebook.org if you are interested in this position. Preference will be given to candidates who can show examples of past design work.
