The GPDD (Global Partnership for Disability and Development) seek a motivate part-time communication volunteer for the next months.
The GPDD is unprecedented alliance of Disabled People's Organizations (DPOs), government ministries, bilateral and multilateral donors, NGOs, national and international development organizations, and other organizations, committed to promoting economic and social inclusion of people with disabilities in low-income countries.
The volunteer will be engaged in our communication activities and would be primarily tasked with assisting our Communications staff in the production of our Weekly Digest. The Weekly Digest constitutes one of our main tools to spread awareness about relevant disability resources, initiatives, events and news throughout our network.
The engagement required will be around 4 hours per week for a flexible period of time (ideally from 6 to 12 months). This is an ideal opportunity for individuals to gain first-hand communication experience while learning about development and disability rights.
The ideal candidate is a college student in disability issues, communication, journalism or international relations with a strong interest in disabilities issues and development. Communication and computer skills required, as well as strong writing and organizational skills.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist monitoring the GPDD listserv and filtering messages
- Assist staff looking for relevant news on disability and development
- Compile the GPDD weekly digest and send it out to our members on Fridays
- Contribute to the animation of our Facebook communities
Please note we expect the volunteer to complete the tasks assigned to him/her in a diligent and timely manner. Tasks can be performed at home, on a personal computer. Schedule is totally flexible.
