Humboldt Olives offers physical therapy follow-up for disabled persons of the Cojimies peninsula.
Description of volunteer position:
Area of activity: Specialized teaching
Mission :
In Ecuador school is mandatory, but because of the lack of resources, accessible locations and trained teachers, many children, who receive therapy from the foundation, do not attend school. The foundation wishes to propose an alternative in developing an education alternative.
The volunteer will have the mission to:
• Have a lesson plan every day of the week
• Adapt lessons to the capabilities of the children and young people present
• Promote putting children and young people in local schools whenever possible
Location of the mission :
The mission will unfold in the foundations situated near the city hall of Cojimies. Comjimies is not a tourist town, but this little isolated fishing village, (40 kilometers north of Pedernales) is worth a stop. Surrounded on all sides by the Pacific Ocean, this almost-island offers serenity, like nowhere else in the country. Courses could be given at home.
Candidate profile
Experience: professional experience in special education
Languages : intermediate Spanish required
Required Qualities : a dynamic individual who is sensitive to interfamily relationships. Must be able to propose and involve parents in the education of their children.
Experience or education in project management would be a plus.
Financial conditions:
Contribution of the NGO : housing and food
Contribution of the volunteer : plane tickets-round trip, insurance, vaccines, visa, (for stays longer than 6 months)
Further details:
Start date : as soon as possible
Length of the mission : from 3 months to one year
Number of hours per day, days per week : five days per week, half the time will be spent teaching, and the other half will be spent planning.
Status : in conjunction with the duration of the mission, the volunteer will be able to stay on a tourist visa, three months renewable, under certain conditions or a volunteer visa, 12-VII, for a maximum of up to 2 years; the visa can be requested in the name of the foundation.
