Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! My name is Lori D'Angelo, and I'm the Program Assistant at Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut. Our tutors teach adults, to read, write and speak English. We have a great need for English tutors. Do you have prior teaching or tutoring experience? If you don't, that's ok: most of our tutors don't have an education background when they begin volunteering with us.

Before someone becomes a tutor they need to participate in one of our tutor training's, which are at least four sessions long. The training will give you all the skills you need to start tutoring.

Basic Literacy Training will take place on, June,16, 20,23,27 & 30th, 10:00 AM-12:30PM at the New Britain Public Library Communnity Room, 20 High St. New Britain, CT.

ESOL Training will take place on July 11,14,18, & 21st 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM at the New Britain Public Library Communnity Room, 20 High St. New Britain, CT.

Preregistration is required, please contact me either by email at lvccprogassist@gmail.com or call our office to register.

Based on board policy the training maybe waived if you have recent teaching or tutor experience.

When you begin with us as a tutor we ask that you volunteer once a week for two hours and commit to volunteer with us for a full year. A minimum of 7 registrants are needed to go forward with each respective training, once that happens I will then send a confirmation letter with directions to the training site.
