Creando Futuro supports the development of micro enterprises run by housewives, disabled young people and farmers living in rural areas.
Description of volunteer position CIBV is a nursery that welcomes around thirty children every morning between the ages of 7 months and 4 years. The centre provides the food that these children need, as their parents no longer have the means to feed them.
Creando Futuro has confirmed signs of malnutrition in the majority of these children. For this reason the organization is calling on the support of a nutritionist who can guide the cook at the centre and develop balanced and healthy diets for them.
-Description of the mission :
Support the feeding of the children.
Develop a nutrition plan.
Monitor the continued nutritional intake of the children (monitor weight, height etc.)
Organize workshops to inform the children's families of good nutritional practices.
-Objectives for volunteers:
Improve the health of the children at CIBV (Centro Infantil del Buen Vivir – Centre for Good Living) through a healthier and more balanced diet.
Transfer your knowledge of nutrition to the cook and the promoters of CIBV, and thus to the children's parents, with the aim of achieving healthier standards in the dietary habits of the children.
-Location of the mission: Sua, Provincia de Esmeraldas. In the CIBV (Centro del Buen Vivir – Centre for Good Living) "Nuevo Amanecer".
-Duration of the mission : 2 months.
-Number of hours per day and days per week required:
8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
-Description of a standard day of a volunteer's work:
Mornings: support the cook in preparing the children's lunch.
Afternoons: prepare and organize activities to ease the children into a more nutritious diet.
Candidate profile -Previous experiences :
Experience in working in the field of nutrition as well as working with children.
Educated in dietetics or nutrition.
-Level of Spanish required: Good level of Spanish.
-Required skills and qualities: Good communicator, responsible, dynamic.
Financial conditions -Costs covered by the NGO:
The volunteer will receive half-board accommodation (including only lunch and only on working days)
-Costs covered by the volunteer:
Return air fares, insurance, vaccines, visa (if a commitment to more than 6 months), breakfast and evening meals.
-Possibilities of accommodation (lodging, food, etc…):
Yes: accommodation in the house of one of the foundation members with lunches included.
