INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER PEER EDUCATORS

Women Watch International (WWI-Ghana)in October,2012 was selected as the NGO to supervise the work of a Vodafone Ghana Foundation World of Difference volunteer in the implementation of a project in Ghana.

The project was under the theme; using edutainment (education and entertainment)as a means to disseminate information to build the capacity of young girls in the first and second cycle institutions on the harmful effects of abuse of oral contraceptives.

The project was highly successful and was selected as one of the best projects.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

The main aim of this project is to use edutainment (education and entertainment) as a tool to disseminate information to young girls in the first and second cycle institutions on the abuse of oral contraceptives.

Some of the objectives of this project are:

  1. To build the capacity of young girls in schools within the Ga West Municipality of Ghana.
  2. To create a referral point to serve girls at risk as a result of abuse of oral contraceptives.
  3. To establish a WWI-Ghana Girls' Friendly Centre in schools within the Ga West Municipality Ghana.
  4. To establish a WWI-Ghana Girls' Friendly Centre at WWI-Ghana's national secretariat in Ghana.

SPECIFIC VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT

1. Be culturally adaptable/flexible.

2. Should be 18 years and above.

3.Be willing to serve as a role model, inspire Staffs of WWI-Ghana and raise awareness.

4. Be able to implement the specific responsibilities.

5.Be able to train Staffs /volunteers of WWI-Ghana on how to effectively advocate for the protection of young girls in the usage of oral contraceptives.

6.Should be able to facilitate lessons in English Language.
